What's the story behing the quote 'Come and take it'? The slogan was used and made famous in 1835 at the Battle of Gonzales during the Texas Revolution. In 1831, Mexico granted Texans a small used canon for the defense of the colony of Gonzales. Revolutionary Texans fashioned a flag containing the phrase 'COME AND TAKE IT' as a symbol of defiance.
